Job Overview: The Social & Behavior Change Officer (Digital) will work under the direct supervision of the SBC Specialist (Community Engagement) and closely collaborate with sectoral and intersectoral specialists and administrators. The role involves contributing to the design, management, monitoring, and evaluation of inclusive, innovative, and evidence-based digital SBC strategies in support of the country program. The officer will play a crucial role in mobilizing a vast network of over 9 million U-reporters for both online and community engagement initiatives, particularly focusing on enhancing the engagement of adolescent girls and young women in social transformation efforts. The position requires a proactive approach to operationalize digital SBC by advocating for SBC, mobilizing resources, ensuring stakeholder coordination, and establishing partnerships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Produce and utilize research, data, and evidence to inform the design, implementation, and monitoring of digital social and behavior change communication programs and outcomes, both in development contexts and emergencies, creating a factual database on digital community engagement.
Design, plan, and implement digital SBC activities based on social and behavioral evidence and robust engagement and participation mechanisms in both development and humanitarian contexts.
Support the operational implementation of digital SBC by advocating for SBC, mobilizing resources, ensuring coordination among stakeholders, sectors, and teams, and establishing partnerships.
Promote continuous learning, strengthening, and scaling up of SBC in development and humanitarian contexts through capacity building of UNICEF staff and partners.
Required Qualifications:
A university degree in social and behavioral sciences, including sociology, anthropology, communication, communication for development, psychology, or a related field.
At least two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: social development program planning, communication for development or social and behavior change, public advocacy, or other related fields.
Relevant experience within a UN agency or organization is considered an asset.
Educational Background: A university degree in social and behavioral sciences, including sociology, anthropology, communication, communication for development, psychology, or a related field is required for this position.
Experience: The position requires at least two years of professional experience in relevant fields such as social development program planning, communication for development, or social and behavior change. Experience within a UN agency or organization is considered an asset, particularly in fragile and humanitarian contexts.
Languages: Fluency in French and a good knowledge of English are required. Knowledge of local languages (Lingala, Swahili, Kikongo, Tshiluba) is also required.
