The intern will work under the supervision of the Policy Specialist for Results-Based Management and will be responsible for various tasks that include monitoring and developing work plans, arranging workshops and online meetings, conducting surveys and interviews, and making recommendations for improvements to the engagement approach. Additionally, the intern will develop digital materials to support the engagement plan, such as PowerPoint presentations, images, videos, and content for social media. This role is essential for ensuring effective communication and engagement within the framework of UNDP's RBM strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Coordinating the Engagement Plan: This involves monitoring and developing the work plan, arranging workshops and online meetings, conducting surveys and interviews to assess the effectiveness of the engagement plan, and making recommendations for changes based on analysis.
Developing Digital Material: The intern will create engaging digital materials to support the implementation of the engagement plan, including PowerPoint slide decks, images, short videos, SharePoint and website design, and podcasts.
Developing Content: The intern will draft various types of content aligned with the engagement plan, such as blogs, personal profiles, reports, and social media content, including Twitter feeds.
Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the engagement plan and contribute to the overall goals of the RBM strategy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a degree program related to development, such as economics, public administration, public policy, or international relations/international development studies. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program, be in the final academic year of a first university degree program, or have recently graduated with a university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in communications and engagement, project management, and digital product development, along with a commitment to UNDP's values.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a relevant degree program, such as economics, public administration, public policy, or international relations/international development studies. Candidates must be either in a postgraduate program, in their final year of undergraduate studies, or recent graduates who can start the internship within one year of graduation.
Experience: Candidates should have demonstrable experience in communications and engagement, project management, and working with digital products. Experience in developing and managing social media content is also essential. A commitment to the values of UNDP is expected from all applicants.
Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory. Competency in other UN languages, particularly French and/or Spanish, is considered a strong asset for this position.
Additional Notes: The internship will provide a monthly stipend, and interns are responsible for their own laptop and internet access. Reporting and supervision will occur online through weekly team meetings. Internships within the UN system are subject to specific conditions, including the requirement for interns to provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan. UNDP does not cover travel or housing costs, and interns must arrange their own visas and travel. The internship is designed to complement the intern's studies and does not lead to further employment within the UN system. Interns are required to commit to a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months for the internship. Selected candidates will need to submit various documents, including a signed UNDP Internship Agreement, proof of enrollment, and a copy of their medical insurance.
