Job Overview: The Digital Communication Officer (NO-1) at UNICEF Mexico will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization's visibility and advocacy efforts for children's rights through digital content strategies. This position involves managing multi-platform digital campaigns, producing high-impact multimedia content, analyzing performance data, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners. The officer will also support emergency communication needs, ensure ethical storytelling, and foster partnerships that help UNICEF Mexico reach a broader audience through digital channels. The role requires the officer to support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the digital and social media components of UNICEF Mexico’s Communication and Public Advocacy Strategy, driving content strategy across various social media platforms and managing digital outreach effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Digital Communication Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
Support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of digital and social media components of UNICEF Mexico’s Communication and Public Advocacy Strategy.
Ensure timely execution and follow-up of communication products and materials to support the country office’s communication and public advocacy strategy, regional and global campaigns, and resource mobilization efforts.
Manage reputation by ensuring that media in the country are effectively catered for in the digital arena.
Maintain and develop a contact list of individuals, groups, organizations, and forums essential for achieving advocacy and communication objectives, including government and UN counterparts.
Contribute to the production of high-quality communication materials that align with UNICEF’s goals and objectives.
Support emergency communication needs and ensure ethical storytelling practices.
Foster partnerships that enhance UNICEF Mexico’s outreach and impact in digital channels.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Work Experience: At least one year of practical professional work experience in digital communication, social media management, and/or web content production.
Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English are mandatory. Desirable qualifications include field work experience, familiarity with humanitarian emergency situations, additional years of experience in digital communication, and proficiency in tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Ads, and Google Ads.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field to be eligible for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the nuances of digital communication and effectively managing social media platforms.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of one year of practical professional work experience in digital communication, social media management, and/or web content production. Additional experience in similar roles, particularly in humanitarian contexts or with large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Proficiency in English is also required, as it facilitates communication with international teams and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
