The organization has a significant presence in the United Kingdom since 1995, supporting migrants through various resettlement, support, and protection activities. The UK is one of IOM's largest donors and plays a crucial role in its operations, collaborating with the government and other partners to provide emergency response and durable solutions for displaced populations. IOM's Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF), launched in February 2025, aims to harness Islamic charitable giving to support vulnerable migrant populations, aligning with Shariah principles and ensuring their safety and dignity during crises. The Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP) within IOM is responsible for building partnerships with the private sector to support IOM's strategic priorities and engage stakeholders in migration initiatives.

Job Overview:
The Islamic Philanthropy Fund Manager will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Islamic Philanthropy strategy in the UK. This role is crucial for mobilizing resources through Zakat, Sadaqah, and other Islamic charitable giving mechanisms. The incumbent will engage with international charities, financial institutions, foundations, corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with IOM's strategic goals for the IPF. The position requires a strategic approach to resource mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development, focusing on creating sustainable funding sources for the IPF and enhancing IOM's impact on vulnerable migrant populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for the growth and sustainability of the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) in the UK, including landscape mapping of UK-based Islamic charities and regulatory frameworks.
  • Assess the size and volume of funds mobilized by Islamic charities, focusing on Zakat and Sadaqah donations.
  • Establish a detailed IPF profile for the UK and provide recommendations for potential partnerships.
  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including Islamic organizations, community leaders, and private sector entities.
  • Develop engagement plans and organize meetings, workshops, and events to promote the IPF.
  • Design and implement targeted fundraising campaigns and develop proposals to secure financial and in-kind support.
  • Establish a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the IPF’s impact and prepare regular progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with IOM policies and maintain transparent documentation of all activities and transactions.
  • Coordinate with IOM’s PSP Division and internal IPF stakeholders to exchange good practices and support global efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business administration, Islamic Banking/Finance, International Relations, Development, Marketing, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or a University Degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in fundraising in a non-profit or international organization, particularly in mobilizing Islamic philanthropy and Islamic finance resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK-based Islamic philanthropy and established networks with Zakat houses and Islamic Social Finance stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Islamic philanthropy principles and practices, with experience in external communications being desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in relevant fields such as business administration, Islamic Banking/Finance, International Relations, Development, Marketing, or Communications from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a University Degree in these fields with nine years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least seven years of experience in fundraising within a non-profit or international organization, or the philanthropic arm of a for-profit organization. They must demonstrate proven success in mobilizing Islamic philanthropy and Islamic finance resources, along with a strong understanding of Islamic philanthropy principles and practices. Established networks and relationships with Zakat houses and Islamic Social Finance stakeholders are essential, and experience in external communications is considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for the United Kingdom will be eligible for consideration.
