Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the PPD Asia-LAC team by providing essential liaison and coordination services for high-level engagements with Member States. This includes managing schedules, drafting briefing notes and readouts for significant meetings, and escorting senior leaders to these engagements. The consultant will also be responsible for grant management support for country offices in the Asia-LAC regions, ensuring that UNICEF's operations in these emerging economies are effectively supported. The role is vital for maintaining business continuity within the team, especially given the current staffing challenges, and will involve following up on commitments made during high-level meetings, guiding country offices on partnership opportunities, and managing relationships with Permanent Missions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide liaison and coordination support for high-level engagements with Member States, ensuring effective communication and follow-up on commitments made during UNGA80 and other significant conferences.
  • Assist in grant creation for funding to UNICEF from emerging economies, working closely with the Legal Office to finalize agreements.
  • Prepare presentations on donor relations in assigned regions, ensuring that all materials are accurate and reflect UNICEF's strategic goals.
  • Conduct public donor risk mapping for the Asia-LAC regions to identify potential challenges and opportunities in resource mobilization.
  • Guide and support country offices on partnership and resource mobilization opportunities, focusing on diversifying funding partners.
  • Maintain service and liaison with Permanent Missions on operational and strategic matters, ensuring that UNICEF's interests are represented effectively.

Required Qualifications:
  • An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in International Affairs, Diplomacy Studies, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in Resource Mobilization, Liaison, and coordination support to high-level engagements with Member States.
  • Strong knowledge of Asia and/or Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in the context of resource mobilization in emerging markets.
  • Excellent client relations skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in fields such as International Affairs, Diplomacy Studies, Public Administration, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of international relations and the operational frameworks within which UNICEF operates.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in areas related to resource mobilization and high-level engagement with Member States. Experience in developing countries and familiarity with emergency contexts are considered assets, as they provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by UNICEF in these regions.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language relevant to the Asia-LAC regions is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
