UNICEF's main office is located in N'Djamena, supported by four field offices across the country, and it works closely with the Government of Chad to align its efforts with national strategies and priorities.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Partnerships Expert will work under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, focusing on developing quality funding proposals and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. The role involves collaborating with various program sections to create proposals that include SMART objectives, target groups, expected results, and budgets. The expert will also maintain a timeline for report submissions, conduct quality control on donor reports, and produce materials to support resource mobilization efforts. This position is crucial for maintaining and diversifying partnerships, ensuring effective communication and visibility materials are developed, and supporting field offices during donor missions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer Partnerships Expert will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Collaborate with program sections to develop quality funding proposals that include realistic activities, objectives, target groups, expected results, indicators, timelines, and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive plan and timeline for all reports due, ensuring sections receive templates and reminders ahead of deadlines.
  • Conduct quality control on donor reports to ensure they conform to proposals and planned results, reviewing and advising on layout and content.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date donor profiles, informing sections of funding opportunities.
  • Produce relevant materials to support resource mobilization, including briefing notes, fact sheets, and proposals.
  • Coordinate responses to ad-hoc donor requests that meet country and global standards.
  • Collaborate with regional and HQ offices to align materials with priorities.
  • Ensure quality communication and visibility materials are developed and distributed as required by donors.
  • Keep program sections and field offices updated on donor requirements and follow up as necessary. 1
  • Maintain a documentation database for all partnership materials, including proposals, reports, and communication with donors. 1
  • Conduct research on prospective new partners for UNICEF. 1
  • Support overall donor relations, including organizing meetings and preparing background information. 1
  • Assist field offices during donor missions in collaboration with communications and program sections. 1
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently. They should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to teamwork and respect for diversity. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and a genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement. They should also be adaptable and willing to work in potentially hazardous conditions, demonstrating flexibility in their approach to work.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree would be an advantage. The candidate should have a strong understanding of UNICEF's operations and the context in which it operates in Chad.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in resource mobilization, partnerships, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts, is highly desirable. Familiarity with donor relations and proposal development is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Chad. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be beneficial for communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a volunteer role, and while it offers valuable experience, it may not provide a traditional salary. The living conditions in N'Djamena require adaptability, as infrastructure and services are limited. Candidates should be prepared for a lifestyle that includes frequent power outages and water shortages, as well as a hot and dry climate. Flexibility and a mature level of cultural awareness are essential for making life comfortable in Chad.
