The CDOTS focuses on delivering operational training and facilitating business process management activities within the UN Secretariat.
Job Overview: The Programme Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of training and capacity development programs aimed at enhancing operational capabilities across various sectors such as human resources, finance, logistics, and governance. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues, proposing solutions, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of training programs. The officer will also be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing reports that contribute to the strategic development of training initiatives. The role demands a strong understanding of operational capacity development and the ability to adapt training methodologies to meet the needs of a diverse audience.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs in various operational areas.
Conducting consulting assignments and facilitating workshops to assist clients in managing change.
Researching and analyzing information related to operational capacity development and preparing evaluations and reports.
Keeping updated on learning methodologies and trends in capacity development.
Designing and conducting surveys to gather data on training effectiveness and operational needs.
Preparing written outputs such as notes, memos, and strategy documents.
Supporting outreach activities and conducting training workshops and seminars.
Leading field missions and providing guidance to external consultants and stakeholders.
Performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in business administration, management, learning management, sociology, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level or advanced degree in any field with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of learning management and capacity development principles, as well as experience in designing and delivering training programs.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in business administration, management, learning management, sociology, or related fields is required. A first-level or advanced degree in any field with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree in the specified fields of studies.
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in learning management projects, capacity development, and training is required. Candidates should have experience in designing and supporting capacity development training programs and developing various training modalities, including in-person and hybrid learning. Experience in creating learning solutions that utilize behavioral methodologies is desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is also considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The appointment is for an initial period of one year and is subject to the availability of the post or funds. The position is financed by the Support Account for Peacekeeping Operations. Candidates recruited through the Young Professionals Programme who have not served for a minimum of two years in their initial assignment are not eligible to apply.
