Job Overview:
The Consultant will be responsible for the design and production of communication materials aimed at addressing the push factors contributing to irregular migration and trafficking in persons (TIP). This role is crucial in supporting the Government of Iraq (GoI) in enhancing legal identity for Iraqi nationals, both domestically and abroad. The consultant will work on five main areas of intervention, including increasing access to legal services, advocating for women's rights regarding lineage and citizenship, and improving access to protection services for victims of trafficking. The consultant is expected to produce high-quality communication materials that adhere to IOM's brand guidelines and effectively convey the project's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and produce manuals on legal identity and related themes, ensuring they meet the project's objectives and IOM's branding standards.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Identity Unit to ensure that all communication materials are approved and align with the project's goals.
  • Develop communication strategies that effectively convey the importance of legal identity and civil documentation to Iraqi nationals.
  • Create visually appealing and informative materials that can be used for advocacy and awareness-raising activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all materials, adhering to deadlines and performance indicators set by the project.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government officials and civil society organizations, to gather input and feedback on communication materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication materials in achieving project objectives and make necessary adjustments based on feedback.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in visual communication design, graphic design, industrial design, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with at least five years of relevant professional experience; or a University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Over five years of experience in design and layout, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in producing high-quality communication materials.
  • Proven experience in video and animation production, showcasing the ability to create engaging multimedia content.
  • Experience working with international organizations is considered an asset, as it demonstrates familiarity with global standards and practices in communication.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in visual communication design, graphic design, industrial design, or a related field from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields is acceptable, provided the candidate has seven years of relevant professional experience. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in design principles and practices, as well as an understanding of communication strategies.

Experience:
The position requires over five years of professional experience in design and layout, with a strong emphasis on producing communication materials that are both visually appealing and informative. Candidates should also have extensive experience in video and animation production, demonstrating their ability to create engaging content that effectively communicates project objectives. Experience working with international organizations is advantageous, as it indicates familiarity with the complexities of global communication efforts and the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge of the English language, as proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process. Additionally, a working knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader audience and engage with diverse stakeholders.

The consultancy is home-based and is classified as a Consultant position at Grade Other, with an appointment duration of one month. The estimated start date is as soon as possible, and the closing date for applications is 10 June 202
  • Candidates should be aware that any offer made is subject to funding confirmation and that the appointment will require certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable. Vaccination against COVID-19 is required for IOM personnel, although consultants working remotely who do not need to travel are exempt from providing vaccination records. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational incidents. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with its objectives, including discrimination and harassment, and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
