Currently, the DRC mission is the third largest in terms of financial volume, with a financial volume of 19 million euros and an ambition to expand its program portfolio in the coming years.
Job Overview: The position of the EHA Coordinator is crucial as it serves as the technical reference for the mission. The coordinator contributes to the development of Solidarités International's strategy by proposing a sectoral strategy in the field of EHA. They are responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of the technical approaches proposed and ensuring alignment between EHA activities, the organization's general objectives, and the needs of the populations. The coordinator oversees the project cycle, particularly the operational monitoring of EHA programs implemented in the country. They also contribute to the capitalization and improvement of EHA methods and techniques used by Solidarités International. The role involves significant challenges, including maintaining the organization's role as a focal point for EHA on various sites, remaining a key player in emergency EHA responses, and continuing to be a major actor in the construction and rehabilitation of water networks in intervention areas. The first two to three months will focus on leading EHA projects, participating in project writing during the proposal season, and immersing in the EHA mission strategy for 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities: The EHA Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Lead the EHA projects on the mission, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring.
Participate in the writing of project proposals and reports during the proposal season in January and February.
Immerse in the EHA mission strategy for 2024, leading ongoing and upcoming projects.
Lead participation in coordination meetings and EHA cluster meetings, as well as the Cholera Working Group.
Monitor the operational aspects of ongoing EHA programs, ensuring they meet the needs of the populations served.
Maintain a strong response capacity for emergencies while developing sustainable solutions to the issues affecting populations in eastern DRC.
Ensure the quality and relevance of technical approaches in EHA, aligning them with the organization's objectives and the needs of the communities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher education degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, construction/public works, public health, or project management. Additionally, candidates should have over 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. Technical skills in WASH (both hard and soft) are essential, as well as knowledge in the construction of water facilities and sanitation systems. Candidates should also have experience in community mobilization and methodologies for hygiene promotion and sanitation best practices. Strong project cycle management skills and the ability to develop relevant monitoring tools for activities under their responsibility are also required.
Educational Background: A university degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, construction/public works, public health, or project management is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to effectively manage EHA projects and interventions.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role. This level of experience is crucial to ensure that the candidate is well-versed in the complexities and challenges of working in humanitarian contexts, particularly in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English and Swahili is considered an asset, as it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders and communities in the region.

The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 800 is provided. Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. The organization has a break system in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions in Goma are described as good, with private accommodations, access to quality food, and opportunities for social activities. However, it is noted that expatriates may not always be based in Goma and could be deployed to more challenging areas with different living conditions.
