Job Overview:
The Senior Operations Officer (SOO) will play a crucial role in supporting the Operations Manager (OM) to ensure the effective performance of the World Bank's portfolio in Ghana. This position requires a strategic alignment with the Country Partnership Framework (CPF), overseeing pipeline delivery, maintaining portfolio quality, and managing trust funds and analytical programs. The SOO will lead the CMU Operations team and collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including other members of the CMU management team, Fiduciary and Safeguards colleagues, and operational teams in Liberia and Sierra Leone. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to contribute to the formulation and implementation of country and sector strategies, ensuring that the Ghana program addresses fragility risks and promotes sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Operations Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: coordinating the country work program with the CMU management team and Global Practices; monitoring and analyzing the work program to maintain operational performance; identifying quality challenges and trends; contributing to problem resolution with task teams; making substantive contributions to country and sector strategies; preparing briefs and presentations for high-level missions and events; serving as a liaison for the extended country team; providing guidance on operational priorities; supporting dialogue with country counterparts; assisting in country program management; and mentoring junior team members. The SOO will also oversee the drafting and reviewing of operational correspondence and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Business Studies, Political Science, Finance, or International Relations. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with the World Bank or a comparable institution is required, along with a thorough knowledge of Bank operational policies and business practices. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strategic thinking, outstanding interpersonal skills, initiative, leadership abilities, and a strong problem-solving orientation. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master's degree in a relevant field that aligns with the World Bank's mission. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in economic principles, business practices, or international relations, equipping the candidate with the necessary analytical and strategic skills to contribute effectively to the organization's goals.

Experience:
The Senior Operations Officer should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, ideally within the World Bank or a similar institution. This experience should encompass a deep understanding of operational policies, project management, and strategic program implementation, particularly in the context of development finance and international cooperation.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. While additional languages are not specified as required, knowledge of other languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset and could enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
