Job Posting Organization:
The internship is hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), which is a regional development arm of the United Nations. Established in 1947, UNESCAP aims to promote economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region. Job Overview:
This internship is part of the Enterprise Solutions Service within the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) at UNESCAP. The position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in software development, particularly in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications. Interns will be expected to work full-time, dedicating 35 hours per week, and will be supervised by a staff member in OICT/ESS. The internship is unpaid, and candidates should be prepared to undertake the internship remotely if necessary due to COVID-19 restrictions. Interns will have the opportunity to enhance their coding skills, particularly in C# using Unity, and will engage in various tasks that contribute to the development and testing of applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that may include writing C# code for AR development, deploying and testing applications on VR devices, committing code to git repositories, participating in weekly sprint meetings, preparing documentation, and demonstrating applications to audiences. The role requires effective communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to plan and organize tasks efficiently. Interns will also be expected to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required, but candidates should possess relevant training, education, or skills that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, software engineering, or information technology. The internship is open to those who are currently studying or have recently graduated, ensuring that interns have a solid foundation in programming and software development principles.

Experience:
While no prior work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have a strong understanding of programming concepts and be able to demonstrate their coding skills, particularly in C#. Familiarity with software development tools such as Unity and git is essential, as these will be used extensively during the internship. Interns should also be able to work independently and effectively manage their time to meet deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.

This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
