Job Overview: The Data Analyst position at UNFPA involves supporting data analysis to generate evidence for policy advocacy and programming. The Data Analyst will assist in knowledge management regarding current and emerging issues in population dynamics, sexual and reproductive health, and gender equality. This position is crucial for providing data and analysis support to program managers and other stakeholders, facilitating the use of data for decision-making, and preparing research briefs based on systematic analysis of UNFPA-supported interventions. The Data Analyst will also engage in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement, aligning with UNV's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Analyst will perform a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting data analysis to generate evidence for policy advocacy and programming.
Collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources for strategic research initiatives.
Assisting in knowledge management about population dynamics, sexual and reproductive health, and gender equality.
Providing data and analysis support to program managers and State offices.
Conducting desk reviews to document best practices and policies from other countries.
Facilitating the use of data from large-scale surveys for decision-making and program improvements.
Preparing research briefs based on systematic analysis of UNFPA-supported interventions.
Engaging in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis software, and the ability to communicate complex data effectively. Experience in research methodologies and familiarity with population dynamics and sexual and reproductive health issues are essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to UNFPA's mission and values, including integrity, diversity, and a results-oriented approach. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also required.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in statistics, demography, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, research, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in the context of sexual and reproductive health is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Hindi or other local languages is an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and operational necessity, with no expectation of renewal. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance is INR 64,961.50, and additional benefits include medical and life insurance, annual leave, sick leave, and relocation costs if applicable. The successful candidate will receive a copy of the Conditions of Service, including the Code of Conduct, upon assignment offer.
