Job Overview:
The Regional Communications Senior Specialist position is pivotal within the IDB's Andean Group Department, focusing on enhancing the department's visibility and stakeholder engagement. The role is designed to align with the IDB's institutional strategy and the objectives of IDBImpact+. The specialist will be responsible for developing impactful communication strategies that resonate with diverse audiences, ensuring that the organization's priorities are effectively communicated. This position requires a high level of creativity and strategic vision, as the specialist will work closely with various teams to drive effective messaging and enhance the organization's influence and reputation across the Andean countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Regional Communications Senior Specialist include serving as a strategic advisor to senior management, ensuring consistent messaging across all communications. The specialist will manage strategic media relationships, providing editorial guidance on media interactions and establishing connections with regional influencers. Additionally, the role involves leading the development of a comprehensive regional communication strategy, supporting country-level communication plans, and providing strategic leadership to communications teams. The specialist will also shape communication strategies during crises, create high-quality content for senior management, and manage promotional and multimedia content that highlights the organization's impact in the region.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, international development, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within communications or external affairs in national or international organizations. Experience in a multilateral development bank or in developing regions is preferred, along with a strong understanding of the socio-political dynamics in the Andean countries. A proven track record in strategic communications, media relations, and content creation is essential, demonstrating the ability to lead and implement communication initiatives aligned with institutional objectives.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, marketing, or international development. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and stakeholder engagement in a diverse and multi-faceted environment.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Candidates should have substantial experience in communications and external affairs, particularly within national or international organizations. Experience in a multilateral development bank or in developing regions is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the socio-political landscape of the Andean countries.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this role. Additionally, knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a valuable asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.

The position is offered as an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
