Job Posting Organization:
The INGO Forum was established in 2009 as a key representation platform for International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) operating in Sudan. The forum currently comprises 51 members and 17 observers, working across the country, including in some of the most challenging areas. The INGO Forum plays a crucial role in coordinating humanitarian efforts, advocating for improved response conditions, and engaging with various stakeholders, including donors and UN agencies. It is a permanent member of the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) and the Inter-coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG), co-leading the Humanitarian Access Working Group (HAWG) alongside OCHA. The forum's mission is to enhance operational alignment among organizations to maximize humanitarian impact, provide essential support and resources for NGO operations, and advocate for improved conditions for humanitarian response.

Job Overview:
The Information Management Officer position is vital for enhancing the coordination and visibility of NGO work in Sudan, particularly in addressing data gaps, response gaps, and access impediments. The officer will be responsible for collecting and transforming data into visual products that can be shared regularly. This role involves managing internal databases and contributing to inter-agency data collection initiatives. The officer will work closely with access and advocacy colleagues, ensuring that data collection efforts are aligned with the needs of the forum and its members. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including REACH/IMPACT and OCHA, to ensure effective data management and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Management Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting access colleagues in gathering data for monthly visa and BAI trackers.
  • Regularly updating the forum's 3Ws and expanding to 5Ws as needed.
  • Collaborating with OCHA and other data analysis units to enhance information management.
  • Maintaining up-to-date contact lists and ensuring smooth information sharing.
  • Representing the forum in information management platforms as appropriate.
  • Producing response and access dashboards regularly.
  • Providing maps and visuals as required.
  • Assisting with special information requests from forum members.
  • Liaising with the advocacy coordinator to produce relevant visuals for communications products. 1
  • Ensuring data protection protocols are adhered to and stored appropriately on internal platforms.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree in information management, data visualization, communications, geography, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with NGOs, the UN system, or other humanitarian/development actors.
  • Mastery of information management and data visualization software, including Kobo, ArcGIS, PowerBI, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to transform complex data into accessible visual formats.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as information management, data visualization, communications, or geography. Equivalent experience may also be considered. A strong educational background in data analysis and visualization techniques is essential for this role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in information management, data visualization, or related fields, preferably within NGOs, the UN system, or other humanitarian/development organizations. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of effectively managing data and producing visual products that support decision-making and advocacy efforts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.

This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and may involve collaboration with international partners. The role is full-time, and candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
