Job Overview: The LogisticsCoordinator plays a crucial role under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, contributing significantly to the operational logistics department. This position involves supporting the entire mission, particularly in areas where logistics personnel may be absent, and enhancing the capacity of the logistics team. The coordinator is also responsible for assisting emergency teams with market analysis and organizing movements as part of their activities. The role requires a proactive approach to logistics operations, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and guidelines, and implementing delegated logistics functions in line with the action plan. The coordinator will also be involved in training and capacity building for logistics staff, ensuring that logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Logistics Coordinator include drafting and producing manual and electronic reports on the progress of logistics activities as requested by the supervisor or management. Ensuring compliance with NRC policies, manuals, and guidelines is essential. The coordinator will implement logistics functions delegated to them according to the action plan, support bases in tracking and correctly archiving documents, and encourage improvements in support functions. They will manage stock and inventory of goods, contribute to the effective management of personnel and equipment transport at the area level, and oversee the maintenance of equipment and furniture in collaboration with dedicated teams. The coordinator will also contribute to the implementation of Green Logistics projects as per NRC directives, manage local and international insurance for vehicles and buildings, and ensure that daily activities related to stock management, vehicle fleet, and organizational assets are conducted according to established standards. Additionally, the coordinator will assist in assessing training needs and capacity building for logistics staff and design and facilitate internal training based on these assessments.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a logistics coordinator in a support function within a humanitarian context. Previous experience in complex and unstable environments is required, along with proven results in the responsibilities of the position. Experience as a trainer and in designing/facilitating training is also necessary. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, and candidates should have a good command of Excel and Word software. A minimum of 5 years of university education in fields related to technical training (logistics, electromechanics, management) is required, or a minimum of 6 years of experience in similar positions if the educational level is lower. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in team management, excellent writing and communication skills in French and Swahili, and the ability to work closely with other field staff across different sectors.
