Job Overview: The position of Asistente Técnico – Finanzas is crucial for supporting the daily operations of the NRC office in Darién, specifically in the areas of Accounting and Finance. The role involves ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines while assisting in the implementation of the support function portfolio according to the action plan. The assistant will be responsible for preparing and developing status reports required by management, ensuring proper filing of documents, and promoting ideas to strengthen support functions. Additionally, the role includes planning and monitoring all financial, accounting, and administrative actions of the office, as well as managing the accounting and financial tools implemented by NRC at both global and local levels. The assistant will also be tasked with applying internal control measures in accordance with NRC policies and manuals, such as the Financial Manual, Anti-Corruption Policy, Internal Control Manual, Cash Manual, and Control Procedures for Partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente Técnico – Finanzas will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines; supporting the implementation of administrative, financial, and accounting manuals; processing accounting transactions for the office; responding to documentation requests; assisting in regional accounting closures and preparing monthly reports and analyses as needed; accompanying administrative and financial visits, audits, or other internal or external entities related to projects; maintaining and updating financial files (both physical and electronic); processing payments to suppliers and contractors while monitoring cash flow; conducting bank reconciliations and check preparation; managing assigned resources and the financial/banking operations of the office's current accounts; ensuring compliance with local tax regulations; attending delegated meetings and conducting field visits while adhering to safety protocols; and performing other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor to meet the objectives of the position.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Asistente Técnico – Finanzas position should possess a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in support functions within humanitarian contexts. They should have prior experience working in complex and changing environments, with proven experience related to the responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of the English language is also beneficial. Specific skills, knowledge, and experience required include being a technology student or a recent graduate in Public Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields, with at least one year of proven experience in a similar role. Candidates should have solid knowledge of Panamanian accounting and tax regulations, as well as proven experience in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced Excel skills being desirable.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree or ongoing studies in Public Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
