Job Overview:
The SGP National Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation and management of the Small Grants Programme in Thailand. This position involves overseeing the SGP Country Programme team, which includes the supervision of the SGP Programme Associate/Assistant and collaboration with the National Steering Committee. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing annual work plans, managing grant allocations, and ensuring adherence to operational guidelines. The role requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, including organizing workshops and project development sessions to inform civil society organizations and local communities about SGP initiatives. The coordinator will also be tasked with monitoring and evaluating the programme's impact, ensuring that it aligns with national environmental priorities and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This position demands a strategic thinker who can foster partnerships, mobilize resources, and facilitate knowledge sharing among stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SGP National Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Supervise and develop the SGP Country Programme team, including the SGP Programme Associate/Assistant.
  • Prepare and implement annual work plans with strategic initiatives and set delivery targets.
  • Manage the SGP grant allocations and ensure financial integrity by adhering to operational procedures.
  • Organize stakeholder workshops and project development sessions to engage civil society organizations and local communities.
  • Monitor ongoing SGP grant projects and provide technical support to grantees.
  • Coordinate with the National Steering Committee and Technical Advisory Group for project proposal reviews and approvals.
  • Document programme/project stories and best practices for knowledge management.
  • Report on programme implementation status to the Central Programme Management Team.
  • Facilitate resource mobilization and partnerships with donors and development partners. 1
  • Perform administrative tasks related to programme implementation, including procurement and travel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental or Natural Resource Management, Economy, Public Policy, Law, Environmental Economics/Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the aforementioned fields, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, will also be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing environment or natural resource management projects at national or local levels, or 4 years with a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is required, along with experience in project or programme management at international or national levels. Knowledge of UNDP's strategic programmes and operational policies is an asset, as is experience in managing GEF-SGP thematic areas.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental or Natural Resource Management, Economy, Public Policy, Law, Environmental Economics/Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above fields, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing environment or natural resource management projects at national or local levels, or 4 years with a bachelor’s degree. Experience in project or programme management at international or national levels is desirable, particularly in the context of UNDP programmes. Proven experience in managing and providing services for the design, management, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects is a significant advantage. Familiarity with GEF-SGP thematic areas at the national level is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Thai is mandatory. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage.
