Job Posting Organization:
UN Women, established in July 2010, is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Job Overview:
The consultant will provide specialized support to UN Women country offices, focusing on the implementation of the Transform Care Investment Initiative Asia-Pacific (TCII-AP) and broader Women’s Economic Empowerment portfolio. This role involves conducting policy analysis, economic modeling, and providing technical assistance to develop gender-responsive policies and practices. The consultant will also support the application of care investment policy tools and contribute to knowledge management and coordination functions. The position requires a strong understanding of gender and economics, with a focus on advancing women's economic empowerment through effective care systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for delivering a range of services, including applied policy analysis, providing ad-hoc technical support to regional and country offices, conducting rapid analysis and stakeholder mapping, organizing events and trainings, and drafting care roadmaps and policies. Specific tasks may include applying the care investment policy support tool, conducting economic modeling, and developing guidance notes for country offices. The consultant will also engage in quality assurance of deliverables and facilitate communication between UN Women and the consultant's expertise.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in gender and economics or related disciplines. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A PhD in economics is considered a plus. The consultant should have a minimum of 7 years of extensive experience in gender and economics, including research and capacity development, and experience in conducting policy tools and costing studies.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in gender and economics or related fields is required. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A PhD in economics is advantageous, indicating a high level of expertise in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in gender and economics, including legal analysis and women's economic empowerment at both national and international levels. Candidates should have experience in conducting gender analysis, designing policy recommendations, and quantitative experience with economic modeling and forecasting techniques. Previous work with international organizations in developing knowledge products for capacity development is an asset.

Languages:
Excellent command of written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of other official UN languages is considered a plus, enhancing the consultant's ability to engage in diverse environments and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is home-based and operates on a retainer contract basis, meaning there is no guarantee of work, and selected consultants can decline assignments based on availability. Payments will be based on the completion of specific deliverables rather than the number of days worked. The consultant will be engaged as needed, with a focus on achieving agreed-upon outcomes within specified timeframes.
