Job Overview: The Global Fleet Manager position at CIMMYT is a leadership role within the Business Services Department, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive global fleet management strategy. This includes overseeing the entire vehicle lifecycle from acquisition to disposal, ensuring effective incident management, and co-designing capacity development solutions in collaboration with research programs and technical partners. The role requires a strong focus on financial performance, budget management, and the establishment of a global fleet safety program. The Global Fleet Manager will also negotiate contracts with suppliers and ensure cohesive fleet management practices across various regions, making it essential to collaborate effectively with procurement, finance, operations, and regional offices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive global fleet management strategy, covering vehicle lifecycle from acquisition, registration, assignment, maintenance to disposal, and incident management.
Co-design capacity development solutions and interventions with research programs at CIMMYT and other technical partners.
Develop and manage fleet operational and capital budgets, regularly analyze financial performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
Oversee the rollout and maintenance of a global Fleet Management System, ensuring real-time vehicle tracking, reporting, and analytics capability.
Develop and execute a global fleet safety program, including defensive driving training and accident prevention strategies.
Negotiate and manage global contracts with suppliers for vehicles, fuel, insurance, toll services, and maintenance.
Collaborate with procurement, finance, operations, and regional offices to ensure cohesive fleet management practices.
Establish and monitor global fleet KPIs, conduct regular performance reviews, and present analyses to senior management.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, International Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, the candidate should have an advanced level of English language proficiency (C1) and at least 5 years of experience in a similar position. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is also required. The candidate should demonstrate competencies in critical thinking, teamwork, client orientation, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, International Business Administration, or a similar field. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of fleet management and the associated financial and operational challenges.
