Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of logistics services in Maitsabri and Amhara. This position involves implementing, monitoring, and following up on all logistics disciplines to ensure compliance with NRC's standard policies and best practices. The Logistics Coordinator will provide leadership, technical support, and capacity building to the area logistics staff, taking initiatives and offering guidance on all logistics-related matters to support NRC's objectives. The role encompasses effective procurement management, fleet management, warehouse and stock management, and performance and professional development management, ensuring that all logistics operations align with NRC's mission and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effective Procurement Management: Ensure adherence to the Logistics Handbook and NRC policies, maintain a high-quality procurement system, coordinate procurement plans, monitor procurement processes, conduct market research, and maintain supplier databases.
  • Cost-effective Fleet Management: Ensure safe transport of staff and goods, manage the transport fleet, coordinate travel plans, ensure vehicle maintenance, manage fuel contracts, and prepare fleet reports.
  • Effective Warehouse and Stock Management: Implement warehouse policies, guide logistics officers, conduct stock counts, support inventory audits, and ensure safety of NRC property.
  • Performance and Professional Development Management: Plan and organize work, support staff performance, supervise logistics officers, develop training plans, and raise awareness of NRC policies.
  • Regularly visit field locations to provide onsite support and conduct staff inductions.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a BA/MA degree in Logistics and Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related fields. A minimum of five years of professional experience, preferably in international NGOs, is required. Experience as a Logistics Coordinator in humanitarian contexts, particularly in complex and volatile environments, is essential. Documented results related to the position's responsibilities are necessary, along with fluency in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines are also important.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a BA or MA degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or other related fields. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and supply chain management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience, ideally within international NGOs. Candidates should have experience working as a Logistics Coordinator in humanitarian or recovery contexts, with a proven track record of managing logistics operations in complex and volatile environments. Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position are essential to demonstrate capability and effectiveness in logistics management.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Tigrigna is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance operational effectiveness in the region.
