Job Overview:
The Media and Communications Associate position is designed to support the IOM Egypt's communications and advocacy strategies aimed at enhancing public understanding and awareness of the organization's work through various digital platforms. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Media and Communications Associate, contributing to the overall communications efforts of IOM Egypt. This role involves developing outreach materials, managing social media platforms, and ensuring timely updates to the Country Office's website. The associate will also be responsible for creating engaging content for social media, monitoring trends, and assisting in the planning and execution of media campaigns. The position requires collaboration with team members to ensure effective communication and dissemination of information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Media and Communications Associate include:
  • Assisting in the development of information and outreach materials such as fact sheets, newsletters, promotional materials, articles, blogs, and social media posts.
  • Disseminating information and publications, archiving documentation, and maintaining up-to-date media clippings and audiovisual content.
  • Updating the Country Office's website with relevant publications, press releases, and human-interest stories.
  • Generating creative content for various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Managing daily social media interactions, responding to comments and inquiries, and escalating complex issues as necessary.
  • Preparing a social media content calendar and scheduling posts using management tools.
  • Monitoring social media platforms for mentions and relevant discussions about IOM.
  • Supporting the preparation and sharing of media materials with stakeholders.
  • Assisting in organizing events and documenting activities through photos and videos. 1
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a High School diploma with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Mass Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong written and verbal communication skills, and familiarity with social media platforms. A basic understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools is advantageous, as is experience with social media scheduling tools. Knowledge of Adobe programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere is considered an asset. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have either a High School diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Business Administration, or Mass Communications from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized and quality education.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor's degree, or four years of experience if they have a High School diploma. Experience in a multi-cultural setting, particularly with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions, is an advantage. Candidates should also have a proven track record of managing social media platforms and creating engaging content.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English, both written and oral, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered a plus, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the communication requirements of the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Egypt will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, and necessary government authorizations. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
