Job Overview: The Report Writer Consultant will play a crucial role in preparing reports for the Green Climate Fund Board meetings and replenishment meetings as required during the contract period. This position involves not only drafting reports but also ensuring that they meet the necessary standards of clarity, cohesion, and accuracy. The consultant will be responsible for taking notes and minutes during meetings and conferences, which will require a keen attention to detail and the ability to synthesize information effectively. The consultant will work closely with the Office of Governance Affairs Editorial Specialist and will be expected to submit initial drafts of reports within three weeks following Board meetings, with final reports due for publication within five weeks. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and transparency of the GCF's operations and ensuring that all documentation is consistent with the organization's guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Office of Governance Affairs Editorial Specialist, the consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities:
Drafting official reports for GCF Board meetings, including informal meetings;
Taking minutes during GCF Board meetings;
Preparing initial drafts of reports, incorporating feedback, and finalizing documents for adoption by the Board Co-chairs;
Reviewing drafts with designated GCF staff to ensure accuracy and clarity;
Attending GCF Board meetings throughout the contract period;
Ensuring reports are clear, cohesive, well-structured, and grammatically accurate;
Consulting with the GCF Secretary to clarify ambiguities and correct substantive errors;
Transcribing audio from Board meetings to address questions from Board members;
Drafting minor notes or inputs for Board documents as needed; 1
Submitting initial drafts of reports within three weeks post-meeting and final reports for publication within five weeks; 1
Taking notes and preparing minutes for other meetings upon request; 1
Conducting additional duties as requested that align with the consultant's expertise.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a university degree in linguistics or literature (English), international relations, political science, environmental studies, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least seven years of relevant experience if they hold a Master's degree, or nine years with a Bachelor's degree, specifically in the preparation and revision of complex documents. At least two years of this experience should have been gained while working for an international organization. Previous experience with the intergovernmental process and the workings of the United Nations or similar international organizations, particularly in report writing, is highly desirable. Ideally, candidates should have experience working with the UNFCCC in a similar capacity. Strong written, editorial, and analytical skills, along with excellent organizational and planning abilities, are essential. A mother tongue proficiency in English is required.

Additional Notes: The contract for this position is for an initial duration of 80 working days over a 6-month period. The consultant will work remotely and may be engaged in similar assignments by other business units within the GCF Secretariat. The reporting line and expected outputs will be determined by the requesting units. It is important to note that the same rate of compensation will apply for any work outside of the hiring unit, and the total engagement should not exceed 180 working days.
