Job Overview:
The position of Research Analyst within the Electric School Bus Initiative (ESBI) is pivotal in supporting the transition to electric school buses across the United States. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about sustainability and equity in transportation. The analyst will engage with various stakeholders, including school districts, manufacturers, and workforce providers, to facilitate the adoption of electric buses. The position requires a strong commitment to integrating equity into all aspects of work, ensuring that underserved communities have access to the necessary resources and tools for fleet electrification. The analyst will also contribute to the development of knowledge products, conduct research, and support communications efforts to promote the initiative's goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Research Analyst include engaging with school districts and stakeholders to provide technical assistance and support the rollout of funding programs. The analyst will conduct research and data analysis on electric school bus deployments and workforce trends, manage quantitative data analysis, and prepare internal and external communications. Additionally, the analyst will organize logistics for meetings and events, participate in peer review processes, and identify fundraising opportunities. The role requires a proactive approach to building relationships with stakeholders and ensuring that equity is prioritized in all technical assistance efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of state policy, transportation electrification, and climate justice issues. Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, along with strong writing and communication abilities, are essential. The ability to manage projects and databases effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively is crucial. A commitment to equitable processes and outcomes is a must, as is a demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Educational Background:
A completed bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, data science and analytics, environmental studies, urban studies, clean energy, public policy, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is desirable and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as electric vehicles, transportation planning, sustainability, or public policy. Experience working with school districts, transportation associations, or environmental justice groups is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the school bus electrification process.

Languages:
Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in the Washington DC office. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application, as WRI is unable to sponsor visa work authorization. The salary range for this position is between $69,000 and $78,000, commensurate with experience.
