Job Overview:
The role of Media Content Creator for the Make Way and CFYE projects involves creating media content aimed at advocacy and visibility for these initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing social media posts, videography, photography, and editing to effectively capture and document the work and its impact. This position also includes supporting the development of a project advocacy and communication strategy focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and livelihoods. The Media Content Creator will create and design a monthly content calendar and newsletters, manage the communication calendar, and collaborate with the communications team to highlight project achievements. Additionally, the role requires the development of social media content and the production of monthly case studies and impact stories, ensuring that the projects' successes are effectively communicated to a wider audience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce engaging media content for social media platforms, including posts, videos, and photographs that showcase the impact of the Make Way and CFYE projects.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create a project advocacy and communication strategy that aligns with the goals of SRHR and livelihoods.
  • Design and manage a monthly content calendar and newsletters to ensure consistent communication and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Highlight project achievements through various media formats, ensuring that the stories of beneficiaries are told effectively.
  • Produce monthly case studies and impact stories that reflect the outcomes of the projects and the experiences of those involved.
  • Work closely with project teams to gather information and insights that can be transformed into compelling content.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of media content and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance visibility and advocacy efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in media content creation, including videography, photography, and editing.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in advocacy and communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Experience in developing communication strategies and content calendars.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A commitment to VSO's mission and values, particularly in promoting equal opportunities and diversity.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, media studies, journalism, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in digital media or social media marketing would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in media content creation, with a focus on advocacy and communication in a non-profit or development context. Experience working in international settings or with marginalized communities is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Ethiopia would be an advantage, as it would facilitate better communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract length that is not specified. The salary is also not specified, but volunteers will receive an allowance paid in local currency to cover reasonable living expenses in the country. Accommodation will be basic, reflecting the conditions of working with some of the poorest communities in the world.
