Job Overview:
The Area logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager will report to the logistics manager based in Kenya and will be responsible for the efficient management of logistics resources in the area of intervention. This role is crucial for ensuring that logistics operations align with HI's standards and contribute to the overall effectiveness of humanitarian responses. The manager will be a key player in the rollout and implementation of logistics standards, focusing on professional development within the logistics team. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to suggest solutions to logistical challenges. The Area Logistics Manager will also play a significant role in emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that logistics operations are well-planned and executed in times of crisis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Area Logistics Manager include defining the logistics section of the strategic operational plan (StratOp) and directing its action plan. The manager will deploy HI's logistics standards and contribute to the organization's expertise and accountability in logistics. Responsibilities encompass operational implementation of logistics, conducting diagnostic phases and contextual analyses, resource planning during the design phase, and procurement planning during the launch phase. The manager will facilitate the development of the logistics profession within HI and contribute to the overall growth of logistics capabilities across the organization. Additionally, the Area Logistics Manager will be involved in emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that logistics operations are ready to support humanitarian efforts effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a degree in logistics or supply chain management, with training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations, or possess equivalent experience. Proven experience of at least three years in sectors such as procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems is required. The candidate should demonstrate a high capacity for analysis and synthesis, along with experience in local capacity building. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills are essential, as well as good communication and negotiation skills in both English and French.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in logistics or supply chain management. Additional training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations is highly desirable. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered, provided they demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills in the field of logistics.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of proven experience in logistics-related sectors, including procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and information and communication systems. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work effectively in emergency contexts, manage stress, and perform under pressure. Experience in local capacity building and a strong analytical mindset are also important for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French is also required. Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for effective negotiation and collaboration in a multicultural environment. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not mandatory for this position.

Additional Notes:
This position is an international contract lasting 3.5 months, starting on July 21st, and will be based in Geneina, Sudan. The contract includes social coverage tailored to the individual's situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. Repatriation insurance is provided by HI. The salary starts at 2,750€ gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a per diem of 858€ net per month, hardship pay of 500€ net per month, 25 days of paid leave per year, and rest and recuperation (R&R) of 5 days every 2 months. Housing will be collective and managed by HI, and if the candidate is a resident of the country, a local package will be offered.
