Job Overview:
The EPPR Project One Health Specialist will play a crucial role in the implementation of the EPPR project, which aims to enhance Ethiopia's capacity for pandemic prevention, detection, and response using the One Health approach. This position requires the specialist to work closely with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and international organizations, to ensure effective coordination and implementation of project activities. The specialist will be responsible for identifying activities that require the One Health approach, coordinating with relevant partners, and providing technical support at community demonstration sites. Additionally, the specialist will document success stories related to One Health implementation and contribute to the overall goals of the project by developing monitoring tools and facilitating information sharing among stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: producing a customized monitoring tool to evaluate the One Health approach during and beyond the project life; participating in Technical Working Group meetings to support coordination among animal health sector entities; providing technical backstopping to FAO management during national and subnational One Health platform forums; developing proposals for information sharing protocols; creating data collection templates for tracking animal health contributions to the National Action Plan for Health Security; mapping ongoing and upcoming animal health interventions in Ethiopia; identifying development partners working on animal health and producing awareness products; making recommendations for mainstreaming the crop sector into the national One Health agenda; and performing any other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: be a national of Ethiopia; possess an advanced university degree in animal health or related fields; have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in animal health program management; and have a working knowledge of English as well as the duty station language, Amharic. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in animal health or a related field. This advanced degree is essential for understanding the complexities of animal health management and the One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in animal health program management. This experience should encompass a range of responsibilities, including project implementation, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with various entities such as government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations. Experience in working in multiple locations or areas of work is also desirable, as it demonstrates adaptability and a broad understanding of the challenges faced in different contexts.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position include English and Amharic. A working knowledge of both languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the successful implementation of project activities. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the communities served by the project.
