Job Overview: The Partnerships Officer position is crucial for supporting the Partnerships unit in engaging with donors and preparing necessary materials to facilitate these interactions. The role involves working under the direct supervision of a Partnerships Officer and the general supervision of the Head of Partnerships & OIM. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the implementation of the overall partnerships and resource mobilization strategy aligned with the WFP Ethiopia Country Strategic Plan. This includes identifying new funding opportunities, managing relationships with donors, and preparing funding proposals, concept notes, and reports in collaboration with relevant units within the Ethiopia country office. The position requires a proactive approach to enhance the partnerships portfolio, ensuring that partner conditions are met and that resources are maximized to support WFP’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Partnerships Officer include supporting the implementation of the partnerships and resource mobilization strategy in line with the WFP Ethiopia Country Strategic Plan. The officer will assist the Partnerships Officer in identifying new funding opportunities and managing relationships with relevant donors. Responsibilities also include preparing funding proposals, concept notes, and reports, coordinating with various units within the Ethiopia country office. The officer will contribute to partner profiling and outreach activities to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work. Additionally, the officer will draft briefs and talking points for senior management, gather data from diverse sources to support meetings with partners and donors, and assist with grant management, including monitoring end dates and requesting extensions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in proposal and report writing. They should have experience in partner management and resource mobilization, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and in stressful situations. Prior knowledge of WFP operations is considered an asset. The role requires fluency in both oral and written communication in English (Level C).
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. However, higher educational qualifications may be preferred depending on the candidate's experience and skills.
Experience: Candidates should have five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in relevant fields. This experience should ideally include roles that involve partnerships, resource mobilization, and donor engagement, demonstrating a track record of successful collaboration and communication with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both in oral and written communication. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not explicitly required for this position.
