Job Overview: The Consultant for the ELEVATE Project will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of activities aimed at addressing the needs of displacement-affected communities in Armenia. This position is integral to the ELEVATE project, which focuses on enhancing economic resilience and empowering marginalized groups, particularly refugees and vulnerable populations. The consultant will work closely with local units and stakeholders to facilitate the project's objectives, which include providing business grants, training for SMEs, and organizing community engagement activities. The consultant is expected to work 10 hours per week, contributing to various tasks that support the project's goals and ensuring effective communication with the community and local educational institutions. The role requires a proactive approach to outreach and logistics, as well as the ability to engage with diverse groups effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
Collecting documents and consulting with individuals regarding eligibility criteria and the grant application process.
Providing logistical and organizational support for activities in the Shirak region.
Promoting project activities and engaging with the community to raise awareness.
Facilitating communication between the project team and local educational institutions.
Actively engaging with refugees and other vulnerable groups to understand their needs and provide support.
Participating in and facilitating meetings, training courses, and workshops within the community.
Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, Law, or related fields, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Proven experience in community engagement, knowledge of transition and recovery themes, and solid project implementation skills are essential. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable groups is highly desirable, as is prior work with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, or Law. Candidates with a High School diploma must have additional relevant professional experience to qualify for the role. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration and community integration.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience if they hold a university degree, or four years if they have a High School diploma. Experience should include working with communities, national institutions, and non-governmental organizations, particularly in areas related to livelihoods, socioeconomic integration, and community cohesion. Solid project implementation and fieldwork experience are critical, as is familiarity with the challenges faced by migrants and refugees.
Languages: Fluency in Armenian is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of English. Proficiency in Russian is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and community members.
Additional Notes: The consultancy position is part-time, requiring 10 hours of work per week. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and is subject to medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses but does not offer medical insurance for non-occupational issues. Candidates must provide proof of their own medical insurance before starting work.
