Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in the ELEVATE project, which aims to empower livelihoods and economic vitality in fragile and conflict zones, particularly in Armenia. This project was initiated in response to the influx of over 100,000 refugees into Armenia due to regional conflicts. The consultant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of various project activities in the Gegharkunik region, which includes engaging with local communities, promoting project activities, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. The consultant will work closely with the IOM project team to ensure that the needs of refugees and marginalized groups are met, and that the project objectives are achieved effectively. The role requires a commitment to fostering economic resilience and social integration for vulnerable populations, thereby contributing to the overall stability and development of the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include:
Collecting and organizing documents related to the grant application process, ensuring that all eligibility criteria are met.
Providing logistical and organizational support for activities conducted in the Gegharkunik region, ensuring smooth execution of project events.
Promoting project activities through outreach efforts to engage local communities and stakeholders.
Maintaining active communication with local educational institutions to foster collaboration and support for project initiatives.
Engaging with refugees and other vulnerable groups to understand their needs and facilitate their participation in project activities.
Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall objectives of the project. The consultant is expected to work approximately 10 hours per week, focusing on the tasks assigned by the IOM project team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess either a university degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, Law, or related fields, along with two years of relevant professional experience; or a High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience. The role requires proven experience in community engagement, knowledge of transition and recovery themes, and familiarity with working in multicultural settings. Experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is highly desirable, as is a background in working with migrants and refugees.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a university degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, or Law. Alternatively, candidates with a High School diploma may apply if they have four years of relevant professional experience. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of migration and community integration, which are central to the ELEVATE project's objectives.
Experience: Candidates should have a solid background in project implementation and fieldwork, particularly in contexts involving vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees. Experience in working with national institutions and non-governmental organizations is crucial, as is knowledge of socioeconomic integration and community cohesion. The ideal candidate will have a track record of engaging with diverse communities and facilitating programs that support recovery and resilience in fragile environments.
Languages: Fluency in Armenian is required, along with a working knowledge of English. Proficiency in Russian is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders. The selection process will include assessments of language proficiency to ensure candidates meet the necessary communication standards for the role.
Additional Notes: The consultancy position is subject to funding confirmation and will require the candidate to be medically fit for appointment. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational issues.
