Job Overview: The Social Protection Project Support position is situated within the Universal Social Protection Department (SOCPRO) of the ILO, specifically in the Public Finance, Actuarial and Statistical Services Unit (SOC/PFACTS). The project aims to enhance fiscal space and ensure sustainable funding for social protection systems in nine targeted countries: Cambodia, Comoros, Eswatini, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, Paraguay, Senegal, and Thailand. The incumbent will assist in various project support tasks, including the preparation of progress reports, organization of knowledge exchange workshops, and dissemination of project results. The position requires collaboration with both ILO and IMF counterparts, ensuring that the project aligns with international social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a range of duties including:
Supporting the Public Finance Specialist in project support tasks and following up on social protection activities in the nine countries involved in the ILO-IMF collaboration.
Assisting in the preparation of ILO-IMF progress reports by drafting sections, collecting inputs from various stakeholders, and ensuring data accuracy.
Organizing ILO-IMF knowledge exchange workshops, including logistics, agenda preparation, and documentation of key takeaways.
Contributing to the integration of collaboration results into the Handbook on fiscal space for social protection and training materials for the International Training Centre of the ILO.
Supporting the dissemination of project results at international conferences and events, including preparing presentations and organizing side events.
Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in economics. An advanced degree such as a Master’s or PhD in economics is preferred. Experience with the ILO or another international organization in the field of social protection is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to conduct research, and proficiency in drafting clear and concise reports. Technical competencies in using analytical tools and programming skills in STATA are considered beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a first-level university degree in economics. An advanced degree, such as a Master’s or PhD, is highly desirable and will enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of social protection systems and the economic principles that underpin them.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in the field of social protection, particularly with the ILO or similar international organizations. Experience in project support, report writing, and collaboration with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders is highly valued. Familiarity with international social security standards and fiscal policies will be beneficial for this role.

Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract lasting four months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance.
