Job Overview: The Data Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Protection Program Manager and the Data Assistant by managing data related to vulnerable migrants. This includes victims of trafficking, gender-based violence (GBV), domestic violence (DV), stranded migrants, and unaccompanied children. The consultant will be responsible for entering, cleaning, and verifying data to ensure accuracy and consistency. The role requires adherence to IOM's Data Protection Principles and respect for the diverse backgrounds of beneficiaries. The consultant will also assist in data analysis and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for data management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and manage comprehensive data processing support for DA/AVRR Units, ensuring data accuracy and consistency through data entry and cleaning in MiMOSA.
Verify data with DA and AVRR staff to maintain quality control.
Support the MiMOSA Focal point in data analysis using Excel and other tools, establishing and maintaining data collection and management activities in line with IOM standards.
Make recommendations for standard operating procedures in information packaging and archiving systems.
Generate basic reports, tables, and visualizations to present data findings.
Assist in organizing data training sessions for various units.
Perform additional duties as assigned and undertake travel as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited institution. They should have experience in administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management, and internal control procedures. A strong proficiency in office software packages, particularly MS Word and Excel, is essential. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are critical. Experience working with IOM or other humanitarian organizations is highly advantageous, particularly one to two years in a similar role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Data Science is required. This educational background ensures that the candidate has the necessary technical skills and knowledge to perform data management tasks effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in administrative and financial management, including budget monitoring and cash management. Additionally, candidates should have at least one to two years of experience working with IOM or other humanitarian organizations, which is considered highly advantageous. Experience in using office software packages and data analysis is also necessary.
Languages: Proficiency in Arabic and English is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the organization. Knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish, is beneficial and may be evaluated during the selection process through written and/or oral assessments.
