The India Country Office is currently implementing its 10th Country Programme (CP-10), which envisions gender equality and the realization of sexual and reproductive health rights for all, particularly for vulnerable groups. The office collaborates with various stakeholders, including government entities and civil society, to achieve these goals.

Job Overview:
The UNV Communications and RM Associate will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and stakeholder engagement of UNFPA's work in Madhya Pradesh. Reporting directly to the UNFPA Head of State Office and coordinating with the Country Office Communications and Resource Mobilization/Partnership Unit, the Associate will be responsible for executing a comprehensive communications strategy tailored to the state. This includes drafting and designing communication materials, developing compelling content that highlights UNFPA's initiatives, and maintaining a media contact database. Additionally, the Associate will support resource mobilization efforts by researching potential donors, assisting in proposal writing, and organizing donor meetings. The position requires a proactive approach to communication and resource mobilization, ensuring that UNFPA's mission and objectives are effectively communicated to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UNV Communications and RM Associate include:
  • Supporting the execution of a state-specific 360-degree communications and media strategy.
  • Drafting, editing, and designing communication materials such as factsheets, presentations, leaflets, and infographics using tools like Canva, with proficiency in Adobe Suite being an advantage.
  • Developing engaging content that documents UNFPA’s work, including success stories and testimonials for various communication platforms.
  • Providing inputs for finalizing communication materials developed with implementing partners.
  • Maintaining a database of media contacts in Madhya Pradesh and coordinating with the Country Office to amplify programmatic impact on social media.
  • Organizing and coordinating events, campaigns, workshops, and media briefings.
  • Supporting photo and video documentation of program activities.
  • Contributing to the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy by researching potential donors and assisting in drafting funding proposals.

  • Assisting in preparing donor reports and developing communication materials for fundraising. 1
  • Performing any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the UNV Communications and RM Associate position should possess strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines are essential. The candidate should also have a strong understanding of communication strategies and resource mobilization techniques, as well as proficiency in relevant software tools for content creation and design.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a background in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field. A degree in these areas is preferred, along with relevant coursework or training in communication strategies and resource mobilization.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in communications, public relations, or resource mobilization, preferably within a non-profit or international organization context. Experience in drafting communication materials and engaging with media is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and understanding of development issues, particularly in the context of reproductive health and rights, will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Hindi is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Madhya Pradesh may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The Volunteer Living Allowance is INR 64,961.50 per month, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 40
