Job Overview:
The Journalistic Writer / Editor position at the ITER Organization offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking fusion energy project. The role involves managing the production of various content types, including written articles, photography, and videography, for ITER’s digital and print materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, editing, and producing content for ITER’s weekly Newsline publication, the public website, the Annual Report, and other publications. Additionally, the role includes supporting communication activities, developing relationships with journalists and media organizations, and representing ITER at conferences. The Communication Division's primary goal is to enhance ITER's external image and raise awareness about its mission as a leader in global innovation for sustainable energy solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Journalistic Writer / Editor include managing and regularly updating the ITER public website in both English and French, ensuring that the content remains relevant and of high quality. The candidate will coordinate the work of various content producers and oversee contributions from webmasters, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and translators. They will manage the production of ITER’s weekly Newsline and other materials for both internal and external audiences, including articles, brochures, videos, and press releases. The role requires monitoring project developments in design, construction, and assembly, maintaining close contact with scientists and engineers to prepare stories that reflect project progress. The candidate will also prepare presentations for the Director-General and maintain strong relationships with communication counterparts in Domestic Agencies and other ITER partners. Additional responsibilities include answering media requests, organizing site visits for journalists, monitoring international press, and representing ITER at various external events.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism or a related communication field. Candidates with extensive professional experience in similar roles or additional training certificates in relevant domains may also be considered. The role requires proven experience in science and technology journalism or a related communication field, strong verbal and presentation skills, and the ability to explain complex scientific material clearly. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality written content on deadline and effectively communicate information to diverse audiences. Stakeholder management skills are essential for maintaining relationships and building alliances across different sectors.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Journalistic Writer / Editor position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism or a related communication field.
