Job Overview:
The Positioning, Partnerships, and Engagement Specialist will play a crucial role in positioning UNDP within the digital development ecosystem. This position involves developing narratives and points of view on emerging digital issues, ensuring consistent messaging across various platforms. The specialist will engage with UNDP teams and partners to provide guidance and input, conduct research, and collect insights to inform advocacy efforts. Additionally, the role includes advancing UNDP's strategic advocacy initiatives, identifying opportunities for embedding key messages, and coordinating high-visibility events. The specialist will also be responsible for building strategic partnerships with governments, private sector entities, and other stakeholders, while facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Position UNDP in the Digital Development Ecosystem: Identify opportunities for impactful positioning on digital issues, develop narratives, engage with teams and partners, conduct research, and collect insights to inform advocacy efforts.
  • Advance UNDP’s Strategic Advocacy and Engagement Opportunities: Develop and implement advocacy initiatives, identify opportunities for embedding key messages, coordinate with colleagues on event opportunities, support high-visibility events, and ensure coherence in messaging.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate partnerships in the digital development space, develop initiatives with partners, manage relationships with multi-stakeholder platforms, and track and evaluate partnerships.
  • Facilitate knowledge and capacity building: Ensure project reports capture results and lessons learned, contribute to knowledge networks, and promote advocacy for UNDP’s work.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Advanced university degree (master’s degree) in Public Administration, Global Affairs, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field, or a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience with a master’s degree or 7 years with a bachelor’s degree in stakeholder management, thought leadership, or partnerships in the development sector.
  • Required skills: Demonstrated experience with digital technologies, stakeholder engagement, and partnerships across sectors.
  • Desired skills: Knowledge of technology trends, experience in crafting positioning strategies, and ability to synthesize information for analysis and recommendations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree) in relevant fields such as Public Administration, Global Affairs, International Relations, or Development Studies. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for candidates with a master’s degree, or 7 years for those with a bachelor’s degree. Experience should be in stakeholder management, thought leadership, or partnerships within the development sector, demonstrating a strong understanding of digital technologies and their implications.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of French, another official UN language, or a local language is considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.
