Job Overview: The Consultant for UNDP Jamaica CO - Office Modernization Initiative will be responsible for providing expert advice and support in the modernization of the UNDP office in Jamaica. This role involves assessing current office operations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The consultant will work closely with UNDP staff to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring that the modernization efforts align with the organization's mission and objectives. The assignment is expected to last for a period of 50 days, during which the consultant will conduct a thorough analysis of the office environment and propose actionable recommendations for modernization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current office setup and operations to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with UNDP staff to gather insights and feedback on their experiences and needs regarding office functionality.
Develop a detailed modernization plan that includes recommendations for office layout, technology upgrades, and workflow enhancements.
Present findings and proposals to UNDP management and stakeholders for approval.
Assist in the implementation of approved modernization initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes, making adjustments as necessary.
Provide training and support to staff on new systems and processes introduced as part of the modernization effort.
Prepare and submit progress reports to UNDP management throughout the assignment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operations is an asset.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in office management, organizational development, or consultancy roles is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Spanish or French, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, and the consultant will be expected to submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal. The contract duration is for 50 days, and the consultant will need to be available for on-site assessments and meetings as required. Compensation details will be discussed upon selection, and the consultant is expected to adhere to UNDP's procurement guidelines throughout the assignment.
