Job Overview:
The position of IC-DPR Development - Environment, Forest and Climate Change involves working on critical environmental issues related to forest management and climate change. The contractor will be expected to contribute to the development of policies and strategies that promote sustainable environmental practices. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental challenges and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. The contractor will be responsible for conducting assessments, providing recommendations, and supporting the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability. The assignment is expected to last for 20 working days within a three-month period, emphasizing the need for timely and effective contributions to the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of current environmental policies and practices related to forests and climate change.
  • Developing strategic recommendations for improving environmental governance and sustainable practices.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to gather insights and foster collaboration on environmental initiatives.
  • Supporting the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing forest management and climate resilience.
  • Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to UNDP and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of implemented strategies and projects.
  • Providing technical assistance and capacity building to local partners and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNDP's procurement processes and guidelines throughout the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, forestry, or a related field. A proven track record of working on climate change and sustainable development projects is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and procurement processes will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of the socio-economic factors influencing environmental policies in India.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Change, or a related field is required. Candidates with additional certifications or training in sustainable development or project management will be preferred. A strong academic background that includes research and practical experience in environmental issues is essential for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental management, climate change adaptation, or sustainable development. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement is also required to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Hindi or other regional languages will be considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 20 working days within a three-month period.
