Job Overview: The Head of Multimedia will play a crucial role in IOM’s Department Media and Communications Unit (DMC), which consists of experienced communications professionals based in Geneva and Manila. This position is responsible for formulating, managing, and implementing creative communication strategies that promote IOM and raise awareness of migration issues among the media and the general public. The Head of Multimedia will oversee the graphic design and multimedia teams, ensuring that all content produced aligns with IOM’s marketing goals and effectively communicates complex ideas in an engaging manner. This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead innovative projects and collaborate with various departments to enhance IOM's visibility and media engagement efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the graphic design and multimedia teams, providing strategic advice and expertise in the development of messaging and content.
Oversee the approval of graphic design and audio-visual products that support institutional visibility and media engagement.
Review, edit, and approve content developed by creative teams to ensure it meets marketing objectives.
Plan and lead the production of innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling graphic and digital experiences.
Commission, script, produce, and direct video clips featuring the Senior Management Team for various events and web postings.
Coordinate creative content development with headquarters departments, including promotional material development.
Provide expert technical advice and training to field missions in creating graphic and audio-visual materials.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with 7 years of relevant professional experience in communications, donor relations, or private sector engagement. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields with 9 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have experience in corporate brand management, graphic design, content creation for digital media, strategic communications, and donor engagement strategies. Experience working with private sector stakeholders in humanitarian or development initiatives is advantageous.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution is required. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A University degree in the same fields is acceptable if accompanied by additional years of relevant experience.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in communications, donor relations, or private sector engagement, particularly in corporate brand management and graphic design. Experience in content creation, including writing and editing for digital media, website content, and social media platforms, is essential. Familiarity with strategic communications and donor engagement strategies is also required, along with experience working with private sector stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, both oral and written. A working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term contract for 1 year with the possibility of extension. It is classified as a professional vacancy at the P-4 grade level. Internationally recruited professional staff are expected to be mobile. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Candidates must be medically fit for appointment and meet any residency or visa requirements.
