Job Overview:
The Chief Migration Health Officer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of Health Assessment and other health programs within the Country Office. This role involves organizing and supervising the migration health assessment process to meet the technical requirements of resettlement countries, ensuring that medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and other health-related services are conducted effectively. The officer will also ensure that the infrastructure and equipment meet professional standards, manage human resources effectively, and maintain compliance with regulatory authorities. The position requires a strong focus on client-centered procedures, quality improvement, and data analysis to monitor performance indicators. Additionally, the officer will facilitate the integration of health assessment activities into the overall migration-related programming of the Country Office and advise colleagues on health-related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief Migration Health Officer will undertake a comprehensive set of duties, including organizing and supervising the migration health assessment process, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, maintaining high standards of quality and safety in health assessment facilities, managing human resources, and establishing a network of external consultants. The officer will also be responsible for ensuring that all medical personnel maintain valid licenses, implementing client-centered procedures, conducting quality control activities, and using data analysis for performance monitoring. Furthermore, the officer will oversee financial aspects of health programs, coordinate procurement of medical supplies, and supervise mobile medical teams if applicable. The role also includes advising on public health interventions, liaising with external service providers, and ensuring confidentiality and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of migration health data.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from an accredited institution, with preferred specializations in internal medicine, pediatrics, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, or obstetrics and gynecology. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years in managerial roles. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Community or Public Health, along with five years of relevant experience, are also eligible. The position requires professional continuous clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting or similar international clinic context, as well as experience in migration health assessments and health program management.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution. Preferred specializations include internal medicine and its subspecialties, pediatrics, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology. A Master’s Degree in Community or Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine, or related fields is also considered beneficial for candidates seeking to fulfill the educational requirements of this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have extensive experience in the field of migration health, with a focus on health program management and project development. A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required, with at least three years in managerial responsibilities. Experience in migration health assessments, project management, and report writing is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate progressive experience in establishing partnerships with government and health institutions, as well as knowledge of public health and patient safety protocols.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is Special Short Term Graded, with an initial duration of up to 9 months. The position is classified at the P-3 grade level. The selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
