Job Overview: The Programme Analyst, Communications position is integral to the UNFPA Country Office in Moldova, focusing on enhancing the organization's visibility and advocacy efforts. The role involves developing and implementing external communication strategies that align with UNFPA's mission and the specific priorities of the Country Programme. The Communications Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners, to ensure effective communication of UNFPA's goals and initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring the political, social, and economic landscape in Moldova, identifying opportunities for strategic communication interventions, and maintaining a positive public image for UNFPA. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in engaging communities and promoting reproductive health, gender equality, and youth empowerment through targeted communication efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: monitoring and analyzing the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA's work; guiding internal and external communications to engage staff and the public; coordinating the development of communication and advocacy strategies; maintaining relationships with media and civil society organizations; drafting and editing various communication materials; overseeing the UNFPA Moldova website and social media accounts; organizing public events to promote UNFPA's goals; producing advocacy materials for campaigns; establishing a documentation center for communication materials; participating in the UN Communications Group; leading program initiatives to raise awareness and engage communities; advising on donor relations and resource mobilization; and performing other duties as assigned by UNFPA management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related social science field. They should have prior experience in communication and advocacy, particularly on social issues, media relationship management, and digital media. Knowledge of communication tools and methodologies is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of behavior and social change communication strategies, as well as experience in resource mobilization and partnership development.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related social science field is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively communicate UNFPA's mission and engage with various stakeholders.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in communication and advocacy roles, particularly in areas related to social issues, media management, and digital communication. Experience in resource mobilization and developing communication strategies for behavior and social change is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully implementing communication initiatives that align with organizational goals and engage diverse audiences.
Languages: Fluency in English, Romanian, and Russian is mandatory for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of one or more other languages relevant to Moldova, such as Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, or sign language, would be considered an asset. Additional Notes: This position is a full-time, fixed-term role with a duration of one year, renewable based on performance and organizational needs. It is important to note that this position is open exclusively to nationals of the Republic of Moldova. The role is classified as non-rotational, meaning that the successful candidate will remain in the same position for the duration of their contract.
