Job Overview: The National UN Volunteer Specialist (Programme Officer – Education) will play a crucial role in supporting the Palestinian Programme in Lebanon (PPL) by implementing, monitoring, and reporting on educational activities aimed at Palestinian children in camps and gatherings. This position involves providing technical support for the development of education projects, conducting situation analyses, and identifying critical intervention areas. The volunteer will assist in drafting work plans and monitoring frameworks, ensuring that education activities align with UNICEF's strategic priorities and national policies. The role also includes conducting field visits to monitor program implementation, collecting and analyzing data on performance indicators, and participating in reviews with partners and government counterparts. The volunteer will contribute to evidence-based programming and knowledge management to ensure quality and inclusive education opportunities for vulnerable children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme Planning, Development, and Management: Provide technical support in developing education projects, assist in drafting work plans, propose adjustments based on field evidence, and coordinate with stakeholders.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct field visits to monitor education programs, collect and analyze data on performance indicators, participate in reviews, and contribute to reporting deliverables.
Partnership and Coordination: Liaise with implementing partners, support coordination in Child Development, promote inclusion of children with disabilities, and build partner capacity.
Knowledge Management and Reporting: Document lessons learned, maintain databases, and support the preparation of reports and updates.
Other Duties: Perform related tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the education component of the Palestinian Programme.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in their approach to problem-solving and decision-making. A commitment to accountability and professionalism is essential, along with effective self-management skills. The ideal candidate will also exhibit creativity and a proactive attitude towards their work.
Educational Background: A degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in education or child development will be preferred. Knowledge of educational policies and practices in the context of humanitarian settings is an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in education programming, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with children and families in vulnerable situations, particularly in refugee or displaced populations, is highly desirable. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as partnership coordination, will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages spoken by the Palestinian community may be an advantage.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Beirut, Lebanon. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1,606.58, along with annual and learning leaves, medical and life insurance, and free access to various learning platforms. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adapt to the local culture and traditions.
