Job Overview: The Programme AssistantNutrition position at WFP involves supporting the Nutrition Unit in Dakar, Senegal, with a focus on implementing nutrition programs that align with the government’s priorities. Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant Nutrition will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing general administrative support to the Nutrition Unit, ensuring compliance with WFP policies; offering specialized project management support for specific nutrition programs; assisting in the development of operational plans and Food Release Notes; maintaining accurate records of nutrition activity implementation; ensuring timely data entry and reporting; managing documentation related to nutrition activities; preparing reports for various stakeholders; supporting the supply chain process for nutritional products; collaborating with partners to promote community nutrition activities; assessing resource needs and monitoring the use of nutritional inputs; participating in partner meetings to review interventions; and conducting any other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a university degree in human nutrition, public health, or a related field. They should have a solid operational background in nutrition and experience in project management. Strong analytical skills, the ability to synthesize information, and excellent report writing capabilities are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, public health, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in nutrition or related disciplines will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of post-university experience in planning and implementing nutrition activities, monitoring food security and nutrition, and evaluating humanitarian and development projects. Experience in managing acute malnutrition cases and community-based nutrition programs is highly desirable. Familiarity with nutrition integration in programs and projects will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, and a good command of English is also required. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract at the G5 level, with an initial duration of one year, subject to renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
