Job Overview:
The Communication Officer (Digital) plays a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's West and Central Africa Regional Office's partnership, communication, and advocacy efforts. This position involves developing, coordinating, and implementing digital communications strategies, producing digital content such as social media posts, videos, and other materials. The officer will assist in planning and evaluating advocacy strategies to raise awareness of children's and women's issues, strengthen political will, and enhance UNICEF's credibility and brand. The role requires collaboration with various sections of the Regional Office and aims to ensure that key childhood issues are prioritized in public and political discourse.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of people resource strategies to promote workforce development and retention.
  • Assist in fostering a positive office culture through relevant policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate logistics for training and learning activities.
  • Monitor and report on program and fundraising budgets, ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
  • Identify and apply Value for Money principles in resource management.
  • Support risk management and compliance efforts, including business continuity plans.
  • Participate in operational efficiency reviews to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Assist in partnership development and donor reporting efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Country Programme Management Plan. 1
  • Engage with private sector actors to enhance resource mobilization efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (Bachelor's) in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A minimum of one year of professional experience managing social media accounts, particularly on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and advocacy, which are crucial for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of professional experience in managing social media accounts and digital communications. This experience should include developing content strategies, engaging with audiences, and analyzing the impact of digital campaigns. Familiarity with advocacy and communication strategies in a non-profit or international organization context is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, along with an excellent working knowledge of English. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile for this position.
