Job Overview: The IVY 2026 Regional Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and implementation of the International Volunteer Year (IVY) 2026 initiatives across the Asia and Pacific region. The coordinator will work closely with the IVY 2026 Secretariat’s Team Lead and the Regional Portfolio Manager to ensure effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including governments, UN entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector. The role requires a strategic approach to enhance the visibility and relevance of IVY 2026 initiatives within the region, adapting communication materials and leading stakeholder engagement efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IVY 2026 Regional Coordinator include leading a stakeholder mapping exercise for IVY 2026, conducting regional outreach efforts to promote the initiative, and fostering engagement with various stakeholders. The coordinator will strengthen regional partnerships through networking events and thematic discussions, represent UNV in regional forums, and adapt communication materials for local relevance. Additionally, the coordinator will contribute to the designation of national IVY 2026 Focal Points, facilitate networking and experience exchange, and support the integration of IVY 2026 within ongoing initiatives. Monitoring and reporting on the progress of IVY 2026 initiatives, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports and documentation of best practices are also key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the IVY 2026 Regional Coordinator position should possess strong skills in outreach, advocacy, and partnership building. They should have experience in stakeholder engagement and knowledge-sharing, particularly in the context of volunteerism. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to adapt communication strategies to different audiences. Professionalism and integrity are essential, along with the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in international relations, development studies, social sciences, or a related field. Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in project management, particularly in roles that involve outreach and partnership development. Experience working with international organizations, governments, or civil society organizations is highly desirable. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN system. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an International UN Volunteer Expert assignment, meaning that the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The compensation structure includes a monthly living allowance, an expertise differential, and a one-time lump sum payment. Additionally, the volunteer will receive an exit allowance for each month served, medical and life insurance coverage, and various leave entitlements, including annual leave, sick leave, and maternity/paternity leave. The role is designed to support the volunteer in maintaining a secure standard of living while contributing to the UN's mission.
