Job Overview:
The Programme Associate Nutrition position at WFP involves supporting the implementation of nutrition programs that align with the priorities of the Senegalese government. The role is crucial in ensuring that the nutritional needs of the most vulnerable populations are met, particularly in regions classified as being in crisis or emergency phases. The Programme Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, UN partners, and civil society organizations, to facilitate integrated nutrition assistance. This position requires a proactive approach to project management, ensuring that activities are executed in accordance with WFP's policies and strategies. The Programme Associate will also be involved in data analysis and reporting, contributing to the overall effectiveness of nutrition interventions and ensuring that the organization meets its objectives in addressing food insecurity and malnutrition in Senegal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate Nutrition will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including providing general administrative support to the Nutrition Unit, ensuring compliance with WFP's policies and procedures. The role includes specialized project management support for specific nutrition programs, assisting in the development and preparation of agreements and memorandums with partners, and acting as a key liaison between the nutrition program and other units. The Programme Associate will also support monthly reconciliation of distributions, manage operational implementation of nutrition projects, and assist in financial processes related to nutrition activities. Additionally, the role involves participating in nutritional surveys and analyses, supporting micronutrient deficiency interventions, and contributing to capacity building for national counterparts. The Programme Associate will represent the nutrition unit in technical meetings and ensure quality control of activities implemented by operational partners, while also taking on any other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a university degree in human nutrition, health sciences, public health, or a related field, along with substantial operational experience in nutrition. A strong understanding of nutrition planning and implementation, food security analysis, and project monitoring and evaluation is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in project management and have experience in supporting national or multilateral nutrition strategies. Strong analytical and writing skills, as well as good computer literacy, are also required to effectively perform the duties of this role.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a university degree at the minimum level of a Bachelor's degree in human nutrition, health sciences, public health, or a related field. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in the field of nutrition, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of post-university experience in planning and implementing nutrition activities, as well as monitoring and evaluating food security and nutrition projects. Experience in emergency nutrition response and familiarity with national strategic plans related to nutrition is highly desirable. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and engage with a wide range of stakeholders is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse communities and stakeholders in Senegal.

This position is a fixed-term contract at the G6 level, with an initial duration of one year. The role is based in Dakar, Senegal, and may involve travel to field locations as necessary.
