Job Overview: The Gender Analyst position at UNFPA is designed to provide technical support to integrate a gender lens into various initiatives, ensuring that programming is culturally sensitive and adheres to a human rights-based approach. The Gender Analyst will play a key role in addressing gender-based violence and promoting gender equality within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), ensuring that these issues are integrated into development and humanitarian efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Gender Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including providing technical support to GBV prevention and response structures, leading the development of multi-sectoral prevention and response plans, promoting safe data collection and analysis related to GBV, establishing inter-agency protection mechanisms, advocating for the integration of GBV concerns across various sectors, mobilizing resources for GBV initiatives, and linking emergency interventions with ongoing development initiatives. Additionally, the Gender Analyst will support the Programme Team in applying a gender-responsive approach in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation, review work plans of local government partners, represent UNFPA in inter-agency meetings, and document good practices related to reproductive health services and GBV response.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women's studies, public health, public administration, international relations, or law. They should have up to two years of relevant work experience in development work, gender and development, social work, or public health, preferably at the local government or community level. Experience in gender-based violence prevention and response in both normal and humanitarian settings is highly desirable, along with skills in developing and monitoring work plans. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as proficiency in relevant computer applications, are essential.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a field relevant to UNFPA's mandate is required. This includes disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women's studies, public health, public administration, international relations, or law. The educational background should provide a strong foundation for understanding gender issues and the complexities of development work.
Experience: Candidates should have up to two years of relevant work experience in areas such as development work, gender and development, social work, public health, or public administration. Experience working on gender-based violence prevention and response in both normal and humanitarian contexts is an advantage. Prior experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring work plans is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Filipino is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse communities in the Philippines.
