Job Overview: The HR Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the execution and delivery of HR efficiency projects across the UNOPS HR population. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to global HR operations within a UN organization. The intern will focus on leveraging machine learning and AI to create predictive analyses of the ticketing system and knowledge management system, ultimately leading to operational efficiencies and the identification of business risks. The intern will have the chance to build innovative and sustainable models, collaborating with the product ownership team and utilizing technologies of their choice. This internship is designed to be a meaningful learning experience, encouraging candidates who are curious, enthusiastic, and committed to bringing fresh ideas and challenging the status quo.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks centered around two main pillars: communications and knowledge management, and data analytics. Specific duties include:
Knowledge Management Automation: Elevating the knowledge management initiative by using machine learning to automate the transformation of JIRA ticket content into knowledge management content, creating automations for content updates, linking policy pages to knowledge base pages, documenting sustainable knowledge management processes, and analyzing knowledge base analytics for content improvement recommendations.
Video Content Automation: Supporting the development of video content by creating automations in video production, establishing a visual identity for HR training materials, and assisting in the creation of monthly videos.
Data Analytics: Contributing to the Data Analytics function by maintaining and improving HR advisory dashboards, assisting in survey design and analysis, and supporting the development of a predictive monitoring and evaluation dashboard using machine learning and AI to analyze JIRA tickets. The successful candidate will gain exposure to UNOPS HR processes, a wide range of work areas, and the opportunity to network with diverse colleagues.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have strong computer literacy, including advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Word/Google Docs, and ideally video editing software. While prior work experience is not required, some experience in HR, knowledge management, communications, or data analytics is considered an asset. Competency in content development, storytelling, and drafting is desirable, as well as experience in using and creating dashboards in visualization tools like Google Sheets or Google Data Studio.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary school or equivalent and must be studying towards a university degree or have graduated within the past three years to be eligible for this internship.
Experience: No prior professional experience is required for this internship; however, some experience in relevant fields such as HR, knowledge management, communications, or data analytics would be beneficial. The focus is on candidates who demonstrate strong computer skills and a willingness to learn and grow in an international work environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language, such as French or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This internship is a paid position with an initial duration of six months, with the possibility of extension for an additional six months based on performance and funding availability.
