The intern will also participate in internal engagement activities and assist with recruitment communications, thereby gaining valuable experience in a professional UN environment. This internship is an opportunity to enhance skills in communication, design, and project management while contributing to UNFPA's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks including: supporting the design and production of visual communication materials such as flyers, brochures, posters, and infographics; contributing creative ideas for design solutions and campaigns in collaboration with internal stakeholders; creating visual content for SCMU's intranet platforms using Adobe Illustrator and other design tools; developing data visualizations and infographics to support reports and communications; assisting in the development and implementation of SCMU’s visual brand identity and communication workflows; leveraging internal communication channels; participating in organizing internal engagement activities; assisting with recruitment communications; and supporting broader communication efforts aligned with SCMU’s strategic framework and work plan.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet several qualifications to be eligible for the internship. Additionally, candidates must show proficiency in written and spoken English, with knowledge of other languages considered an asset. They should exhibit initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work harmoniously with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Adaptability to new environments and the ability to establish good working relationships are also essential.
Educational Background: To qualify for the internship, candidates must be enrolled in a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree) and have completed one full academic year, or be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a master’s program). Recent graduates who have completed their degree within the last year and can start the internship within that timeframe are also eligible. Alternatively, candidates enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee program may undertake the internship as part of their training.
Experience: The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently pursuing their education or have recently graduated. While specific professional experience is not mandatory, any prior experience working with development agencies or in related fields will be considered an asset. The focus is on candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills in a practical setting.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the UNFPA. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application, particularly in a multicultural work environment.
Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid, and interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. Interns are responsible for their living expenses, accommodation, travel, and other requirements. However, a stipend may be provided to help cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by an institution or program. Interns must also have medical insurance for the duration of the internship, and proof of insurance is required before starting.
