Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in Gesundheit und Soziale Sicherung is designed for individuals who are eager to support the health and social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security sector within GIZ. The intern will work closely with health planners in the Competence Center (KC) and will focus on knowledge management and digitalization efforts. The role involves contributing to professional statements, conducting research for project evaluations, and assisting in the management of knowledge within the center. The intern will also support events and team meetings, take minutes, and contribute to presentations. This position is an excellent opportunity for those interested in gaining practical experience in development cooperation, particularly in health and social security systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including: assisting health and social security planners in their tasks, contributing to the knowledge management of the Competence Center, supporting the digitalization efforts of the center, conducting research for project evaluations and assessments, contributing to professional statements and consultations, assisting in the organization of events and team meetings, taking minutes during meetings, and helping to prepare presentations. The intern will play a crucial role in ensuring that the center's knowledge is effectively managed and utilized, and will be involved in various projects aimed at improving health systems and social security frameworks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed undergraduate degree or a master's degree in fields such as political science, social sciences, economics, public health, social work, or a related discipline. Practical experience in development cooperation, whether domestically or internationally, is highly desirable. A focus on health, social security, or inclusion during studies or previous experiences is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, creativity, quick comprehension, a sense of responsibility, teamwork abilities, and intercultural competence. Proficiency in standard IT applications, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), is essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English. Knowledge of an additional foreign language, preferably French, is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a completed undergraduate degree or a master's degree in relevant fields such as political science, social sciences, economics, public health, social work, or a comparable discipline. Candidates should have a strong academic foundation that supports their understanding of health systems and social security frameworks, as well as the ability to engage in research and analysis related to these areas.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some practical experience in development cooperation, which can be gained through internships or relevant work experience. This experience can be either in Germany or abroad, and it should ideally relate to the fields of health, social security, or inclusion. The internship is particularly suited for individuals who are currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship as part of their curriculum or who have graduated within the last six months.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in both languages.
