Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on contributing to the future of sustainable infrastructure development worldwide, particularly in developing and emerging countries that face significant challenges in various aspects of infrastructure development, including energy, transportation, and digitalization. The intern will support GIZ's efforts to assist partners in achieving sustainable development and climate protection goals through integrated infrastructure projects. The role involves engaging in knowledge management for global communities and facilitating professional cooperation and exchange formats.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will assist the team in various tasks related to infrastructure development in international cooperation. Your responsibilities will include supporting project consulting in terms of expertise, methods, and processes, collaborating with bilateral and regional GIZ initiatives, and contributing to community-based knowledge management in the field of infrastructure and Global Gateway. You will conduct literature and internet research on relevant topics, maintain offerings in the GIZ GIS Geoportal, and support current key themes such as sustainable infrastructure, trade and logistics, financing, artificial intelligence, and digitalization. Additionally, you will help prepare and follow up on webinars, workshops, and working sessions, assist in drafting project proposals and evaluations, and improve digital service offerings while participating in relevant working groups.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be pursuing a degree in transportation, environmental, engineering, or economic sciences, urban or regional planning, or a related field. Knowledge of topics related to passenger and freight transport, environmental and climate policy issues, and familiarity with AI/digitalization and data-based services in transportation are advantageous. A strong interest in development policy issues and international transportation policy is essential. Basic knowledge or a solid interest in handling geoinformation data (GIS) and proficiency in data management, as well as experience with MS Excel and other common office applications, are required. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to understanding GIZ's organizational and process structures, possess fluent German and English language skills in both written and spoken forms, and exhibit strong written communication skills. A creative, team-oriented work style and a high degree of initiative are also important.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a degree program or in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part. Alternatively, candidates should have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The internship is designed for individuals who are currently studying or have recently completed their studies, thus requiring no extensive prior work experience. However, familiarity with the relevant fields of study and a proactive approach to learning and engagement in the role are expected.
Languages: Fluent proficiency in both German and English is mandatory, with strong written communication skills in both languages being essential. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
