Job Overview: The Associate Information Systems Officer plays a crucial role in the implementation and maintenance of information systems within the UN. This position involves working closely with a Senior Information Systems Officer to prepare user requirements, develop technical specifications, and assist in the design and rollout of various technical services and processes. The incumbent will engage in complex systems analysis, enhance existing systems, and may design standalone systems to meet specific user needs. The role also includes providing operational support for data security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and integrity, developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring that project deviations are addressed. The Associate Information Systems Officer will draft training materials, conduct training sessions, and analyze data to provide insights for decision-making. This position requires collaboration with senior staff to assess new technologies and prepare written outputs for various UN activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Information Systems Officer include:
Participating in the preparation of user requirements and technical specifications for system implementation.
Assisting in the design, development, testing, and rollout of technical services and processes.
Conducting complex systems analysis and developing enhancements for existing systems.
Providing operational support for data security and integrity.
Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Identifying human and technical resources for project completion and addressing project schedule deviations.
Writing programs to interface with existing systems.
Participating in the development of disaster recovery and contingency plans.
Maintaining system documentation and technical manuals. 1

Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in similar fields, combined with two additional years of relevant work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer information systems or a related area is required. Candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP) or the G to P Examination (G to P) are exempt from this experience requirement. Experience with an SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable, as is experience in data analytics or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have experience in organizing and preparing reports or publications.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an advantage.
